Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
Obviously my colors are more vibrant than the book covers but I was pleased because I was able to get the placement and the shadow correct. It took me forever to get the lighting set up correctly, but I ended up with a light set up behind the pencil and using a reflector to get the softer shadow. I also got a whole lesson on strobes, so I definitely learned something from this book cover! (The fastest sync speed is 1/250!)

My picture ended up a lot cooler in color than the original. I couldn't find anyone with a white shirt, and it's November! You're not going to find anyone wearing a strapless like that!
I didn't get the shadows on the hands quite right.. the finger holding the heart needed a shadow on it and I didn't get it. I'm really not happy with how this one turned out... The pictures look similar, but I can tell now that I definitely needed back lighting and I didn't realize that before taking the picture...
I just used natural lighting, in the shade. I needed a brighter light, and... yeah. I need to re-do this later.
I cropped and brought the fill light up, upped the exposure and changed the temperature.
